Took dad to the doctor today for advanced macular degeneration, his right-eye vision is getting worse and not able to see well now. After a series of testing, a dose of Avastin was injected today. The left-eye is also showing signs of the same macular degeneration but in a much better shape than the right, currently defined as the "dry form" by the doctor. Hypertension, smoking and age are the main causes for dad's eye problem. If this does not work or show improvements, will find a doctor who could perform cold laser surgery and replace Avastin with Lucentis injections.

Market singing"wake me up when September ends..." today. dramatic pull back as better-than-expected data no longer fuels the market and profit-taking with a bit of panic selling dictated the downward momentum for most of the day. Got caught in a tailspin with minor loss, now it's about time to decide whether the long-waited correction is underway or this is just a healthy pull back to lure in more buyers. liquidated long-term holdings and trading account ready to trade this volatility. Markets surged to record highs since 4Q of 2008, likely moved on anticipations of better than expected economic numbers this week, especially from the job front. USD is weak and commodities is lifted and speculations on oil getting higher. this week will tell if test 3 will start, upside potential is still there. "cash for clunkers" is boosting the new car sales; former Metlife chief taking over as AIG's new chief.

Weak USD kept things going for now, while the job data will be the Achilles heel on this super bull run. the higher the better for now.
Cash For Clunkers is popular and is helping the car makers to jump start their car-making and sales, and expecting more money to go into this program approved by Congress. Expanding out of trouble is going to be a big mistake this time around. How do people buy new cars when they are losing their jobs and their houses getting or will get foreclosed? How do people buy foreign cars when dollar is weak and the deals are made just to get them further in the financial slump?
A moment of boost on GDP and unemployment will serve temporarily only as the make-ups on a pig for the Obama administration.
So wrong and ultimately unfair. and those who participated will get hit later. I mean, money spent is money spent. most of those who have "clunkers" can not afford a new car, period.
I want an old house for new house program work in Congress, old PCs for new, old watches for new, old furnitures for new....so on, that's my point.

Job loss in July came in at 247000 which was better than expected and Dow rallied 180 pts intraday, USD regained strength against major currencies and a flock of analysts and fund managers declaring and celebrating the new bull market that we are in. Next week comes FOMC meeting, retail sales, CPI, and industrial production with a huge auction in Treasurys. USD strengthened and oil moving up, Fed to maintain rates low for a long period of time but no more treasury buying. PPT or Goldman came to rescue in the last hour of today's trading and surged 180+ pts, financials and broad market are strong and finished at 9362, S&P 1006, Nasdaq 1999, Oil at $70.66 and Gold $953.

It's the swing with temptations, ups and downs gave trading oppotunities and never short of traps. FDIC Friday with Colonial Bancgroup failed, bigget bank failed so far this year, with $25 bil in assets and 346 branches, sixth largest bank failed in history. BB&T took it over. 5 banks this week and 77 so far this year.

busy busy trading day. jobless claims came in higher but the market seems to ignore it. long awaited correction did not materialize this week. financials,commodity, real estate all posted solid gains today. made a couple of mistakes on tue and thur this week which came costly.
